Granite is a compact, polishable rock with visible crystals, for decoration and/or building purpose. It is primarily made of Quartz (35%), Feldspar (45%) and Potassium. It contains very little calcite, if any. Granite provides a heavy crystalline and granular appearance with mineral grains that usually set in darker colors. It is a hard material and easier to maintain than marble. This type of stone comes in a variety of colors ranging from salt and pepper to reddish brown to jet-black. Granite has a very high density and low absorption. These qualities make it highly desirable for exterior walls and high traffic flooring in commercial projects.
